Masterwort Essence

Masterwort is a fairly new plant in my garden. We were 1st introduced many years ago while touring the VanDusen Gardens in Vancouver. It was in a medieval garden display and I fell in love, but for some reason did not acquire a plant at that time. Last year I found it in a local nursery and didn’t think twice about buying it.

It is planted behind my house, and this year it was calling to me to make it into an essence. I found it hard to find the time to devote to getting it made, but finally decided to just put everything else aside and make it. I did my ritual and invited the elements to join in making the essence, sat with it for a short time and left it in the sun to potentise while I got on with the “hundred” other things I had to do that day. That was the last thought I gave to it until later that evening when my husband moved it as he was going mow in that area. Yikes! I’ve never forgotten an essence before.

Well, as has happened so often before, there is often an element of the making which guides me to determining the definition of an essence. Although that was a few weeks ago, I have only journeyed with the essence today and I’m sure I can hear the nature spirits laughing at me.

When I 1st attuned to the essence I felt an immediate rush of energy to my hands and I thought this will be an amazing essence to add to a healing session. Then I noticed energy flowing to other parts of my body and a renewed sense of inspiration – something that has been put on the back burner with family, work at the hospital, gardening…..

I felt that this was primarily a spiritual essence – improving the flow of energy – but one that would tritate down to the physical level by way of improved circulation, thus improving many physical conditions that manifest due to poor energy and blood flow. Of course being a maternity nurse I am curious to see if it would help the flow of mother’s milk. I also realized that the lesson in my business was that it was bringing back the enjoyment in what I was doing and find a balance between work, rest and play.

My definition of Masterwort is: Improves flow of energy allowing for inspiration and motivation. Helps us find balanced, stay centred and see the joy in our everyday tasks.

After I journey with my essence, I look to see if anyone else has made it and what they have written. I was please to find that Greenhope Farms has made Masterwort Essence and they state: “for creative souls, this helps with issues of containment, flow and striking the right balance of activity and rest during creative projects all of which helps to prevent burnout.”

Pretty close! I try to see everything (or most things) we do as creative projects.
If anyone else has had an experience with Masterwort Essence, or if you experience anything by concentrating on the picture and inviting the energy to you, please leave a comment. Would love some more Continued…

Reiki – A Healing Resource

I will be teaching a Reiki Level 1 this month and thought I’d put out some information about what Reiki is, and what a Level 1 class is about.

Reiki is a universal healing energy that flows through all living things. It has an innate intelligence and therefore flows to where it is needed. When we have blockages in our flow of energy, dis-ease can occur. Reiki can help to release these blocks and promote healing of body, mind and soul.

To receive a Reiki treatment, you will be on a massage table, fully clothed (so where loose clothing) with pillows and blankets for comfort. Some people have soft music playing, candles and aromatherapy, but this is up to you practitioner. Reiki is either light touch on the body or hands slightly above the body, depending on the comfort of the client. It usually takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to do a full Reiki session, but the great thing about Reiki is that you can do much shorter or longer sessions.

The session starts at the head and moves down the body, although a practitioner is often intuitively guided to start at another place, or place their hands where they feel the Reiki is needed. Most of the hand positions correspond with the major chakras. Clients often feel warmth coming from the practitioner’s hand as the Reiki energy flows through the practitioner to the client. Most find the session extremely relaxing. During the session, the Reiki energy flows to where it is needed in the body. The client may feel that the practitioner’s hands are in a different spot to where they actually are, or that there are a few pairs of hands working as the energies flow through the body. As with many therapies, toxins can be released following a session and it is wise to drink a lot of water for a day or 2 following and get the rest your body requires.

During a Reiki class, you learn more about what Reiki is, the history of Reiki and the Reiki principles. You learn how to give a Reiki session and as it is a hands on class you give sessions and receive sessions. Reiki is innate in all of us and as part of the class you are given an attunement that helps to unlock the ability to heal. It literally helps you tune into the healing vibration. Each level of Reiki helps to fine tune your ability to the Universal Life Energy more fully.

Preparing for Pregnancy and Birthing

Becoming pregnancy is an important time in a woman’s life and the life of her developing child. Although we don’t always have a say in the decision to have a baby, it would be ideal to take a couple of years to make sure we are our healthiest both physically and emotionally. However, there are many things a woman can do at any stage of preconception to birth to help ease the transition into motherhood.

Of course good food is important to meet the needs of your growing body and developing infant. There are many thoughts on what is a good diet. I think the best is food that is as close to its natural form as possible, organic if available, with lots of variety to ensure you are getting different nutrients. There are certain foods that are not recommended in pregnancy – processed meat (since the listeria scare), certain fish (high mercury levels), alcohol (we want good development of baby’s brain), and the list goes on. Supplements are often recommended too. Here is a link to a wealth of information on nutrition, supplements and other interesting topics.

Staying active throughout your pregnancy may lead to an easier labour and faster recovery due to more endurance and strength. Most activities are safe in a normal pregnancy, although you may have to make some adjustments to your regular routine as your body changes with your growing baby. Check with your midwife or doctor before you start a new fitness program or increase your regular activity. Here is an article on the benefits of fitness in pregnancy.

Your mental and emotional health is extra important during this time. As your baby grows inside you, she experiences the same things that you do. Recently there has been much research in a field called epigenetics. In a nut shell it is the time before the gene is determined. That is, our genetic make-up is not set in stone, but rather it is determined by our genes. Dr. Bruce Lipton has studied epigenetic and this is from Holistic-MindBody-Healing.com

"Dr.Lipton explains epigenetics in this way. He says that
"genes are the "blueprints" for the body's construction and epigenetic mechanisms resemble a contractor that can select and modify the gene blueprints to fit the perceived needs of the body."

In the first weeks after conception embryonic development is controlled by genes. But then something interesting happens. These genes take a back seat to environmental information.

The child receives this information via hormones and other chemicals from its mother. In turn, the child's body structure and function are adjusted in response to the mothers perception of her environment. For example, if a mother experiences a lot of stress during pregnancy, the child is at higher risk for emotional issues. Children with learned helplessness often come from mothers who were stressed out during pregnancy.

The mind body healing connection is further supported as Dr. Lipton explains that thoughts actively shape our genes. Only 5% of human diseases are related to inborn genetic defects. Lifestyle is responsible for 90% of heart disease, 60% cancer and possibly all of type 2 diabetes."

With this information, we can see why emotional support for pregnant mothers is vital. Modalities such as Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Flower Essences, Reiki, Emotional Freedom Technique, meditation, yoga, are resources that bring deep relaxation to the nervous system helping mothers stay calm and find a stillness within.

With all these things to consider, I think that the best thing you can do during your pregnancy is laugh! It triggers physical changes in your body to strengthen your immune system, boost your energy, diminish pain, and protect you from the damaging effects of stress. It is free, easy to do and does not require any special equipment. And even more astounding that even if you fake laugh - you still get all the benefits!

So eat well, find ways to be serene and go ahead and have a good belly laugh. Your baby will be laughing with you!

Biodynamic Birthing

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BSCT) is a gentle, subtle whole body approach to support and restore health and well-being to the whole body. It is a non-manipulative, non-invasive, very light touch therapy.

Pregnancy and Preparing for Birth
Throughout pregnancy, the female body is constantly changing to adapt to the baby`s growth and needs. A prenatal BCST session can be a special time for a mother to get in touch with her body and growing baby. BCST helps rebalance both the energy and physical body and can be very helpful in alleviating the discomforts that may accompany pregnancy and also helps mother and baby prepare for the birth together.

A goal of BCST is to gently improve motility in the mother`s pelvis so her baby can more easily assume an ideal position for birth, promoting an easier birth for both mom and babe.
BCST has been known to help with:
• Morning sickness
• Strengthening the immune system
• Reducing emotional stress and anxiety
• Reducing heartburn
• Relief of sciatica, back ache and leg cramps.
• Turning breech presentations.

After Birth
The attention that a mother receives during pregnancy is often withdrawn and transferred to the baby after the birth. It is important for the new mother to continue to be nurtured when most of her energy is spent nurturing a new baby. It is beneficial for the whole family when a new mother receives focused attention just for her. A happy mom means a happy family!
BCST continues to rebalance the new mom on the physical level. This helps her body return to its non-pregnant state, especially if birth has been difficult. BCST can support the process of integration, healing and recovery. On an emotional level, BCST can help mom stay in a calm, settled state to help her with attachment and bonding with her baby.

For Babies
An easy, natural birth is a wonderful start for mom and baby. Babies` bodies are created to go through the birthing process. Their heads mold to fit through mom`s pelvis. Baby`s first breath, and nursing at the breast, skin to skin are inherent, natural way the baby’s head returns to its normal shape.

Interruptions in the baby’s recovery can be seen in cases of very long or very quick births, large babies, or other causes of birth trauma.
When stresses are not corrected, common issues such as difficulty nursing in the 1st 24 hours, colic, spitting up, irritability and sleeping disruptions can occur.

BCST can address these problems as well as the effects of precipitous or prolonged labor, vacuum extraction, forceps or cesarean birth

I’m back!

I am now officially finished my course in biodynamic craniosacral therapy (BCST).  What a great feeling!  It has been an amazing two and a half years of study and practice and I am immensely grateful to all those wonderful people who gave their time and their bodies for me to practice on – especially those in the beginning when I didn’t know what I was doing!

One of the many aspects of health that we look at in BCST is space.  When we are injured or stressed our body contracts as a way to protect us from further harm, but we often find ourselves stuck in that contracted way of being, and that is dis-ease.  BCST helps our body relax and find space to expand and reclaim our health.

I now realize how this has been playing out in my own life.  For the past 2 years my world has revolved around my course, contracted into this world of learning a new modality.  I did very little work with essences, EFT or Reiki – in fact I stopped teaching Reiki as I just could not get my head around how to do it with the new information I was learning.  Our last BCST module was in March and one evening my T.A. and a friend were having dinner and we were talking about different energies, including feeling the presence of others while we were working.  At that moment the memory of feeling the presence of Quan Yin and others came flooding back.  Now that I was finished the course I had space to start integrating my other modalities with the new information.

We had our graduation on March 29th.  When I got home that evening I opened my email to find a note from a woman who had contacted me 2 years ago about making some 5 element blends.  Family circumstances had interrupted the process and now she had space to take up the project again – and so did I.  What a wonderful, serendipitous way to be welcomed back to my essences.

I also have space in my life for books that are not related to BCST.  I bought Eckhart Tolle’s book, A New Earth a couple of years ago with good intentions.  I know – everyone else read it when Oprah did her classes, but I’m getting there now.  I have only read the 1st 2 chapters, but have found myself giggling at the timing.  Chapter 1 speaks of flowers awakening humans to their innermost being and true nature.  Yes!  Chapter 2 talks about the illusion of self.  As I am reading it, I realize that this is the essence of Calla Lily.  Yes!  I can hardly wait to read the next chapters to see what other insights I will find and how they resonate with my lovely essences.

Till then, I hope you are enjoying the warm weather and take time to sit with the flowers!

I have subscriptions to many newsletters on varying topics.  Some I open every time and others every now and then.  The one I have enjoyed lately is by Dr. Carol Robins.  She provides CD’s on guided imagery and meditation.  Lately she had a series of speaker who you could listen to for free within a certain time frame or you could purchase the talks.  I enjoyed the speakers I was able to hear and I did purchase the package of all of them so I could hear the rest when I had time.  At present, there is on audio left that you can hear for free, but I believe she will be doing another series in the spring and I will let you know then.  However, her site has a lot of information on it if you want to check it out.

The other site that I have yet to explore, but there is a tremendous amount of info and free teleclasses is GlobalTVteleclass.

Here is the Winter Solstice update from Power Path Inc.

Winter Solstice is Monday, December 21 at 10:47 AM Mountain Standard Time. This is an important solstice and a time to do something with community towards change. This is a time when something very important to you can become activated through the support of others and through something completely unexpected. Be open and available and flexible so you can take advantage of it. The activated energy of the month settles a bit during this time so that you can actually see how you have manifested the right order of things. Marvel at the magic and mystery and take some time to be grateful and to celebrate life and all that you have.
Happy Happy Solstice to you all and have a wonderful Holiday Season!

Jose and Lena   Here is their  Monthly forecast

I hope you find these interesting!

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year!

Hello!

Here is my first post on a blog.  I haven’t figured it all out yet, but figured I should just start and learn as I go.

For those of you who know my site, Elemental Energies, you will know that I write about vibrational essences, meridian tapping techniques and other types of energy healing.  I am currently learning biodynamic craniosacral therapy and thoroughly enjoying this new (to me) modality.  This is a short post for now, but my desire is to provide support and resources for those going through transition and I hope to share resources through this blog.

I hope that you will enjoy what I have to say and check out the resources as I am able to get them posted.

Cheers!  Marion
